“I highly recommend Jacob Sherlock. Jake took my case after other attorneys quit and with the help of Jared Koch resolved this 11+ year case very favorably for me. Jake listened to me, respected my wishes, and thoroughly explained my options. He was very patient and timely in responding to my questions and concerns. Jake was very prepared and skillfully litigated my case. He went the extra mile researching laws and case studies. Jake Sherlock truly knew the case, the laws and he worked hard for me on this long complex case. After working with other attorneys, I cannot recommend Jake Sherlock enough. I am thankful for the high quality local service of Jake Sherlock.”

Real Estate Client

Jacob (Jake) Sherlock practices in litigation, focusing on creditor’s rights and collections, business litigation, administrative law and litigation, insurance law, and mechanic’s liens. He also practices in the areas of estate planning and business law. Jake approaches his client’s issues with a rational mindset. He has a calm, laid-back demeanor and puts clients at ease with his honest and genuine nature.

Jake feels a great deal of satisfaction in his work. When he successfully argues a case, writes an effective brief, or obtains a favorable resolution, he feels gratified in knowing he’s done something well and has helped his clients. He is determined and thoughtful and doesn’t shy away from difficult tasks. Prior to coming to Blethen Berens, Jake served as the Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Larry M. Collins in the Waseca County District Court, and gained a unique judicial perspective that he brings to the firm and to his clients today. If facing complicated financial challenges, you want someone like Jake on your side. He can sort out difficult problems, find viable options, and his extensive knowledge and commitment to efficiency work in his clients’ favor.

Jake is also invested in his community and believes Mankato is a great place to live and work. He observes and appreciates that the area’s professionals are willing to give back, himself included. Personally, Jake volunteers with Partners for Housing, which provides emergency shelters for women and families, transitional housing, and low-income housing for people in need in the area. He’s been on the board of directors since 2017. He is also involved in United Way’s efforts to help our community and is a member of Greater Mankato Growth Young Professionals. In his professional community, Jake serves the Sixth District Bar Association, and in May of 2020 was appointed Secretary. Whether through his volunteer efforts or in helping people navigate legal issues, Jake is dedicated to serving his community.
