Alyssa Nelson represents clients in family law, landlord law, employment law, and general civil litigation matters. Her superior interpersonal skills and determined personality put clients at ease and help them navigate a complex legal system. Whenever possible, Alyssa tries to advise clients of ways to minimize the risk of costly litigation. This includes providing compliance advice to landlord and employer clients as well as using alternative dispute resolution processes for her family law clients. When litigation is necessary, Alyssa has the experience and skills needed to be a strong advocate for her clients in the courtroom. Alyssa has also completed the requisite training to be listed as a qualified neutral under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice.

Before moving back home to Minnesota, Alyssa worked at the Wisconsin State Senate where she helped individuals with time-sensitive employment, family and housing issues.  While in law school she gained invaluable, practical experience as a judicial extern in Ramsey County, a student certified attorney in Hennepin County’s juvenile prosecution division, a policy analyst intern for a nonprofit, and an extern for the Minnesota Department of Human Services data privacy division. Alyssa’s competitive nature lead her to representing William Mitchell College of Law in national competitions including multiple mock trial competitions and the American Bar Association negotiation competition.
